Story Chapter 23 : Love letters at summer

Summer's haze, a faded frame,
You and me, lost in love's sweet game.
We built a lie, a fragile nest,
Promising forever, but forever's unrest.

Love letters on napkins, tickets worn,
Promises of permanence, a heart forlorn.
City lights blurred, whispers in the night,
I believed every word, a love so bright.

But you were dividing your heart and time,
A master of deception, a subtle crime.
The ocean's undertow, a hidden lie,
Every sunset, every laugh, every promise, goodbye.

Those letters, written in sand and sea,
Washed away by the tide of your dishonesty.
A performance, perfect and precise,
A romance tainted, a heart's demise.

Now I see the truth, the shading clear,
A salesman's words, a poet's disguise, so dear.
You managed me, with every line and sigh,
A distraction from the lie, a heart's goodbye.

The summer ended, the truth revealed,
A slow, sickening dawn, a heart unsealed.
Those love letters, proof of your deceit,
Receipts of guilt, a heart that would retreat.

But I own the truth, the strongest goodbye,
A hard-won peace, a heart that would fly.
You may have had the summer's fleeting thrill,
But I have the truth, and a heart that's still.
